She explains the benefits of a good note taking system, such as keeping students active in class and using notes as a resource for homework. Then the three column note system is demonstrated. This system has students write down key words, sample problems and reasons for each problem step. Students can use this system to help learn math vocabulary, test themselves on what they have already learned and predict test questions.
